Why it is important to market yourself? How can you build your brand online?

For our professional life it's important to know how to sell ourselves. It's the first thing people will notice about you, when you apply for a job for example. In this globalized world we can have the same opportunities than someone living across the globe who didn't go to the same school, doesn't have the same religion or culture but who will be able to seek for the same job as you do. You need to differentiate yourself by having skills that they won't have. Knowing how to manage social media to market yourself is primordial. Your LinkedIn profile has to be reliable and not too boring. Your Facebook page should be clear of every party's pictures that would make you suffer from the consequences if your future employer looks at your profile. You need to be aware of what social medias can bring you as a positive touch but also be prepared of every negative eventuality. 

Depending on the job you want to do you will need to use social media more or less. As an employee in a company you will have a lot of professional relations on social medias that could help you get partnerships for example. As an entrepreneur, you can build your brand online by promoting it on your personal Facebook and Twitter page to start. Then create your brand's page on these social networks, and even a blog or a website where people will be informed of everything related to the brand on a unique place. Be careful to use Instagram to promote your brand by interesting pictures, and Twitter with a catching sentence. You have to know every particularity of each social media so that you can use them the best possible.
